Consensus Algorithm
UPCX uses a hybrid consensus algorithm, combining Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) and Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) to improve security and reliability.
A hybrid consensus algorithm that combines BFT and DPoS provides scalability, faster transaction confirmation time, enhanced security, and improved energy efficiency. Within this hybrid consensus algorithm, a set of Witnesses (representatives) who are responsible for validating transactions and adding new blocks to the blockchain are elected through the DPoS process. Additionally, the BFT algorithm allows consensus to be reached even in the presence of flawed or malicious Witnesses. This approach ensures the reliability and robustness of the network while providing the benefits of a more democratic and decentralized governance structure.
By using a hybrid consensus algorithm of BFT and DPoS, UPCX achieves a high throughput and a block confirmation time (Settlement Finality) of 1 second.
